About ImageFixer

Our Mission

Most online image tools work the same way: you upload a photo to a stranger's server, wait while they process it, and hope they delete it afterward. We thought that was backward. Modern browsers can run image codecs directly — there is no good reason for your private photos to ever touch a third-party server.

ImageFixer was built to prove that point. Every conversion, resize, crop, and compression operation runs inside your browser using WebAssembly. We never see your files. We never store your files. We could not leak your files even if we wanted to, because they never reach us in the first place.

What ImageFixer Does

ImageFixer helps you solve the everyday image problems that keep coming up: a HEIC photo your iPhone took that won't open on Windows, a 12 MB PNG that's too large to email, a screenshot you need to crop for a social post, an old JPG you want to re-encode as a smaller AVIF for a website. We support every common modern format — HEIC, HEIF, AVIF, WebP, JPG, and PNG — both as input and output.

Our smart format recommendation looks at each image and suggests the best output format and compression level automatically. You can keep that recommendation, or override it if you have a specific destination in mind.

How It's Built

ImageFixer is a single-page web application that runs entirely on your device. We use the same WebAssembly-compiled codecs that power professional image tooling — including mozjpeg for JPG, libwebp for WebP, libavif for AVIF, and libheif for HEIC. These codecs run inside a sandboxed worker thread in your browser, which means converting an image on ImageFixer is roughly as fast as a native desktop tool.

The site itself is hosted on Vercel's global CDN so it loads quickly anywhere in the world. Beyond that initial page load, no network traffic is required to convert your images.

How We Stay Free

Running ImageFixer costs money — domain, hosting, codec licensing, and time. We keep it sustainable in two ways. First, the free tier is supported by light, non-intrusive ads served by Google AdSense. Second, our optional Pro tier removes ads entirely and unlocks batch conversion, advanced compression controls, and early access to new features. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription that auto-renews forever.

We deliberately do not sell data, run affiliate schemes, or include trackers beyond what AdSense and basic analytics require. You can read the full breakdown in our Privacy Policy.

Who's Behind It

ImageFixer is an independent project built and maintained by a small team of web developers. We are not a venture-backed startup, we are not building toward an acquisition, and we are not collecting your data to train a model. We just wanted a better image tool than the ones that exist, so we built one.
